IF YOU don’t know the answer ask the council. South Ayrshire is setting up a study centre on its website which will be free to parents and the public as well as to pupils and teachers.

Councillors heard this week of the success of a pilot project by a teacher seconded to explore the possibilities of putting study items from the secondary syllabus on the web. Local schools supplied items, and the bank will be extended by the secondment of another teacher to concentrate on primary and special schools and cover more areas of the secondary curriculum.

Alastair Noble, the council’s head of quality and service development, said the site should “make a significant contribution to raising standards of achievement and increasing pupils’ motivation”. It contains answers to questions set and helpful advice for pupils.
