KS1 pupils made a structure from junk material which would “hold one gobstopper above the ground”; KS2 students built a structure to transport the gobstopper from the table to the ground. Children also had to design an exploding sweet and make a kaleidoscope that would give Mr Wonka inspiration for new sweet wrappers. The topic created interest and enthusiasm and sparked their imaginations. They were gripped by the story and the activities brought it alive for them. Parents commented on children coming home enthusing about their day.
