Messages of support have flooded in for the Tower Hamlets College student Farid Berrezag hurt in last Friday’s IRA bomb blast in London’s Docklands in which his father was critically injured.

Computing student Farid, 17, and his father Zaoui from the Isle of Dogs were in their car at the time of the explosion which showered the vehicle in glass and metal.

Students in the college building, less than half a mile from South Quay, felt aftershocks and the explosion shattered windows in the basement. Others living nearby saw their homes damaged.

Annette Zera, the principal, said: “I was very concerned to hear that Farid had been injured. It’s an appalling situation when innocent local young people get caught up in this sort of violence.”
