Scotland’s brightest prospect in table tennis, Craig Howieson, of James Gillespie’s High in Edinburgh, who won the boys’ under-15 event at the North Ayrshire Junior Open Championships in Irvine last month with a 3-2 final win over Robin Depuydt of Belgium, is now gearing up for the Portuguese Open in two weeks.

Perth will host the Scottish Primary Schools Championships on February 27 and the Secondary Schools Championships on March 20, with entries decided by regional qualifiers.

The British Primary Schools Champion-ships will be held on April 8-10 in Cardiff.
