Your report on the passing of the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Bill included an interesting nugget of information (TESS, May 19). It appears that Judith Gillespie has decided against public funding for a new national parents’ body. Her argument appears to be that such funding would threaten the independence of the organisation.
The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) recommends a mixed package of funding for voluntary organisations to balance independence and ownership.
