Talk of the north

Montrose Academy last week came out on top in the National Youth Parliament competition north of the border, run by the Citizenship Foundation. Chosen by a panel of MSPs, the school also won individual awards for best backbench MSP, best opposition spokesperson (question time) and best First Minister.

Other winners were Belmont Academy in Ayr for best question time, best opposition spokesperson (debate) and best presiding officer; and Morrison's Academy in Crieff which took the best minister award.
