Early years teachers are not doing enough to develop their pupils’ social and emotional skills, a new study suggests.

Researchers, lead by Peter Kutnick of King’s College London, observed 350 pupils in 10 nurseries across London. Staff tended to focus on extremely sociable or awkward pupils and did not encourage children to interact, they concluded.
