COMMUNICATION FOR WORK. By Carol Carysforth. Heinemann Pounds 9.99.

Communication for Work will be handy for anyone whose communication skills are on display, but who lacks finesse and confidence in their use of English. This text covers grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary as well as the usual oral, written and visual communication skills.

It is aimed at level 2 students, - intermediate GNVQ and equivalent vocational courses, but is suitable for level 3 and beyond. Context is firmly based in the modern work environ-ment, and the text is well structured, lively and engaging, with clear progression. All conven-tions of business communication are covered, including E-mail.

Although designed for a tutor-led course, the book would be equally valuable for individual distance learning and flexible study. It would make a useful reference for business students but, incredibly, has no index.
