The Babati Project, organised by British Agrochemicals Association, is inviting GCSE students to help Tanzanian farmers and learn about science in the real world at the same time.

Groups of eight students will assess the farmers’ problems, put forward practical solutions to improve food production, and produce a project report of 2,000 words minimum by February 1. The winning group will spend eight days looking at FARM-Africa’s work in Tanzania and 10 entries will win Pounds 100 worth of computer software each. The project complements BAA’s free GCSE resource pack Feed the World. Details: Sian Thomas, BAA, 4 Lincoln Court, Peterborough PE4 5EN. Tel: 01733 349225.
