A TEACHER has been charged with manslaughter after the death of a pupil on a school trip to France.

Gemma Carter, 13, drowned on a trip to a beach in Le Touquet last year after becoming separated from the rst of the school party, from Cockburn high school, Leeds. The move by French police was welcomed by her family who have called for a tightening of the rules for teachers supervising pupils on outings.
