CLASSROOMS will be the stage for the Teacher Training Agency’s next recruitment drive, with teachers as the salesmen and school-leavers the target audience.

The TTA, told this week by Education Secretary David Blunkett to make recruitment its top priority, wants to take its message into schools when pupils are making decisions about their careers.

The agency will turn to the commercial sector, bringing in marketing experts. The move was recommended in the five-yearly review of the agency which was published on Wednesday.

Anthea Millett, the TTA’s chief executive, who announced her retirement this week, told The TES: “Improving our marketing expertise will allow us to deliver the message more effectively into schools.”
