MORE than eight out of 10 teachers believe the top priority for the General Teaching Council for England should be to stem the flight of young teachers from the classroom. Nearly 40 per cent of teachers leave within five years of qualifying. Discipline, inclusion and achievement were priorities for 78 per cent of the 38,000 teachers polled by the Mori Social Research Institute.
