Peter Lant, head of English at St Olcan’s high school in County Antrim, wins this week’s staffroom treat of a Tea Break Time kit from Taylors of Harrogate with a particularly poignant tale. Staff at the school, he explains, have gone without a morning break for the past 15 years.

He says that, despite much lobbying, the head refuses to relent and give Mr Lant and his colleagues a few minutes off in the middle of the morning. He hopes the staffroom giveaway of a teapot, four bone china mugs, a dozen tasty Yorkshire tea loaves and, of course, plenty of Yorkshire tea, will encourage hime to do the right thing.Cheers, and here’s hoping.
