Technology cash flows through into colleges

THE Scottish Further Education Funding Council has announced the distribution to colleges of another pound;15 million to support information and communications technology in FE.

It is the second instalment of the pound;29 million for ICT funding earmarked in the Government’s comprehensive spending review, and is in addition to the pound;325 million for teaching support and bursaries nnounced in April. The allocations are to improve the technological infrastructure of colleges and to continue with staff development.

The cash is for a 16-month period running to the end of the academic year in July next year. The sums range from pound;419,000 for Aberdeen, the largest college, to pound;25,000 for Newbattle Abbey adult education college in Dalkeith.
