THE Department of Health is proposing to stop free dental treatment for children with crooked teeth to save money.

The British Orthodontic Service estimates that 10,000 children receive corretive treatment each year, costing an average of pound;3,000 per child.

The department wants free treatment only for those children whose teeth are so malformed their health is at risk.
