Teletubbies take on the critics

My two small children are both keen fans of Teletubbies. I was disturbed to read the Week in View column (TES, August 8).

It is at the moment quite trendy to knock the educational value of the Teletubbies and you duly obliged by claiming the Teletubbies magazine contained “a total of 13 words over 24 pages, including laa-la-la-la-la”.

Could I point out pages 14 and 15 of the magazine, entitled “Count the Tubby toast”. These two pages alone contain 78 words, including 36 words aimed at helping parents improve their pre-school teaching skills. I trust the activity will be within your compass. If not, the answers, from the top, are 3, 4, 2 and 5.
