I would like to clarify one point about your editorial, "Grammar is not an arcane skill" (TESS, April 17), in which my letter about John MacBeath's article the previous week on "thinking" is mentioned. My letter makes it clear that I do not accept that there is a distinction between "thinking" and "knowledge", whereas your editorial implies that this is my position.
As you correctly say, "The dichotomy is false". This is the point I was making.
