A big depression over Northants

I agree totally with Simon Midgley's report, (TES, June 19) on depressed deputies. Substitute the word "head" for "deputy", however, and you will have an accurate picture of small schools in Northamptonshire: virtually no non-contact time and full management responsibilities. The situation for heads is so much worse as most have no deputy either!
