Wales's national coal museum has won a Sandford award for its education programmes. Big Pit in Blaenafon, Torfaen - which takes visitors 300ft underground to explore the workings of a real coalmine guided by ex-miners -also hosted the award ceremony for other winners. Earlier this year, it won the Gulbenkian prize for best UK museum.
