A team effort

Your article "Helping to pick up the pieces" (TES, December 6) brought welcome attention to the role Connexions can have in helping vulnerable young people.

However, it neglected to mention a fundamental aspect of assistance for FE students - the multi-agency nature of support. Yusuf Rwigama received immense help and advice from other professionals, in particular his personal tutor and a college adviser. Connexions personal assistants should not claim all the credit for success stories like Yusuf's as they are brought about by a team effort.
