A twist of fete
Today and tomorrow the museum's Pirelli Gardens will be turned into a "village fete". More than 20 of the UK's most innovative young designers, several of whom are FE college graduates, will show their work. They are using the traditional summer fete but givingthe old favourites a "modern" treatment.
The cake stall, for example, will feature iced shapes of Didcot power station and the Pentagon, the food will include "designer hot dogs" and you can guess what the white elephant stall is selling.
The event has been organised by Scarlet Projects and exhibitors come from colleges including Hastings, Leeds, Strathclyde, Belfast, Camberwell and St Martin's in London.
