Aberdeen Grammar

(Photograph) - In a curious irony, given the current wrangle over renaming of Aberdeen Grammar, Michael Clark Hutchison, Tory MP for Edinburgh South, used a Commons debate to argue for the restoration of the school's original name. "What happened was that a Socialist town concil abolished fee-paying and changed the name to Rubislaw Academy. Rubislaw is no more than a granite quarry. No one but a silly Socialist brought up on a lot of Marxist bilge would think of naming a school after a quarry," he said. Photograph by Kate Sutherland
