Absent councillors

Jim Fletcher, education convener in East Renfrewshire, mused to his committee recently that under new regulations up to 16 councillors could look forward to attending meetings of St Ninian's school board since the secondary serves several wards in East Renfrewshire and two in Glasgow.

Perhaps fortunately, under the normal pattern of councillor attendance at boards there will not be an embarrassing shortage of chairs.
