Reading your article "Cash-back for sponsors" (TES, August 13), I realised that a staggering 2.5 per cent of the pound;70 million allocated by Tony Blair on 14-19 educational improvement has found its way into the hands of a very small number of organisations.
I would like to ask sponsors of city academies the following. Where is the evidence that the cycle of underachievement has been broken? Are improvements related in any way to private-sector funding? What exactly was the educational advice given that made such a difference to these schools? Perhaps answers to these questions should be published for all our mutual benefit.
