Ajanta Apartments is a series of stories for children at key stage 1. They are set in a modern block of flats in India, and have already become popular in Indian schools. Drawings on each page use speech bubbles to enhance the simple narrative sentences. The plots are straightforward but touch on bullying and loneliness. Jyoti, Hasmina, Ganesh, Mandeep and their frinds have parties, play with toys and sometimes behave badly. Though they live thousands of miles away, their stories can be profitably read in British classrooms. pound;1.95 each, set of eight stories pound;15.
