American dream to be on call has a hollow ring

To give out your personal mobile number is asking for trouble - so many times teachers have been wrongly accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a pupil.

We are encouraged not to create any social contact with pupils out of school which may lead to allegations. Giving pupils this kind of access allows them an open door on the private lives of teachers, and is open to serious abuse.
