A primary in North Ayrshire was lucky enough to enjoy a superb production of Beauty and the Beast in the run-up to the Christmas break.

After the triumph, the company's leading light and manager - who happened to play the part of the teapot - duly approached the headteacher.

"Hi," she said, "I'm Lydia."

Can't beat that old one, can you?
