The topics for this year's Higher and Advanced Higher Spanish exams were not only appropriate, but would also have engaged pupils, according to one modern languages teacher in Dundee.

International adoption, the effect of television on children, the pros and cons of holidays with family versus holidays with friends, and new forms of communication, such as MSN messenger, were among the topics featured in the exams, said Neil MacKinnon, head of modern languages at Dundee High: "The papers were relevant and appropriate but also designed to engage the interest of pupils. We were very happy with what we saw."
