Archbishop's light in gloomy world

1st December 2000 at 00:00
AFTER last week's usual round of educational doom and gloom, how refreshing it was to read the article about Southwark's Archbishop Michael Ramsey technology college's exam and league table success (TES, November 17).

This was not a Fresh Start establishment. It was not given an imported super head, yet againt similar odds, it achieved greater things.

Why? A return to sound education, and common sense.

Thank goodness these are still alive and well somewhere within the English education system.
