Arts staff cost millions;In brief

Councils spend pound;75 million on art, music and drama teachers, a Convention of Scottish Local Authorities survey reveals. Another pound;830,000 is spent on bursaries for arts courses. Eighty per cent of costs(pound;59.9 million) goes on expressive arts teachers, 18 per cent(pound;13.6 million) on peripatetic teachers and 2 per cent(pound;940,000) on advisers.
