Assembly of the week

Staying healthy

Losing weight is a common new year's resolution. But if pupils need to get slimmer, it is important that they know how to do it safely.

Rhianrebecca has shared a PowerPoint presentation packed with photos to help you discuss with pupils what it means to be healthy. It should spark debate about size zero, malnutrition and obesity.

Why not give pupils "agree" and "disagree" cards as they enter the assembly hall? Then encourage them to vote on whether each image shows someone who is healthy.

Conclude by explaining the ingredients of a balanced diet.
