Assembly of the week

8th February 2013 at 00:00

Charles Dickens' birthday

Celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, the author who gave us Oliver Twist and Great Expectations, on 7 February.

Find out what drove him to write about the Victorian poor and push for social reform. Discover how he was sent to work in a factory at the age of 12 and was later employed as a reporter.

Lilybabe's assembly PowerPoint is packed with images and information about his life and times. Why not conclude by asking pupils what they could do to mark this day?

For an assembly for every day of term, check out the TES Assembly a Day collection.
