Evidence of the popularity of athletics in primary schools was provided by the recent British Aerospace Primary Road Relay Championships at Grangemouth. More than 900 runners ntered the races from 67 schools - almost double the number who competed in the Secondary Road Relay Championships a fortnight later (538 entries from 34 schools).
