* Applications are invited from teachers and students for The Earthwatch Education Awards (grants of pound;500 and pound;250 to put towards joining a project run by Earthwatch, the international science and education charity). Recipients become scientific field assistants on two-week projects such as Blue Ridge Bears, Prehistoric Ecuador, Zambia's Park Survey and Bahamas Whales and Dolphins. Applicants must write an essay of 1,000-1,500 words on how they will use the experience on their return and how they believe it will affect their development.
