The Educational Institute of Scotland made almost a clean sweep of the teacher places on the new General Teaching Council, but the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association is getting in another way. It will become a tenant of the GTC at its tree-girt offices on Edinburgh's Clermiston Hill.

Only for a limited period, mind you. The SSTA will return to the New Town once its Dundas Streets offices are given a much needed refurbishment.

Exceptional admission, as it's known in GTC-speak.
