Bad chair day

Teachers on the TES website's discussion forums have been swapping favourite Ofsted anecdotes. One particular story caught our eye, about an inspection of a pupil referral unit. "The children were trying really hard to behave beautifully - not an easy task for most of them," says the contributor. "The Ofsted team were all experienced at working with such children except for one woman. She announced loudly, during a walk down the corridor, that she had expected to see more anti-social behaviour.

"A passing child promptly picked up a chair and threw it at her."

As they say, you get out what you put in.
