Diary is pleased to run some lines from a reader's poem, entitled The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock, HMI (with apologies to the late TS Eliot).

"Let us watch from self-appropriated seatsThe desperate featsOf frantic hours in too-demanding coursesAnd miracles from over-stretched resources".

Dan Williamson wrote the lines more than a dozen years ago while preparing for an inspection, which may prove le plus ca change..
