Bear necessities

4th June 2004 at 01:00
The bears may chase Goldilocks in the old story, but nowadays the threat is usually in the opposite direction. An informative Bears of the World pack explains many of the ways in which humans provide the menace, including destruction of habitats and hunting as well as circuses and badly kept zoos. A large poster and a set of photographs introduce many species from the familiar grizzly and giant panda to the sun bear of south-east Asia.

There is also advice on what we can do to counter the exploitation of these large, intelligent and naturally shy animals. Bears of the World is produced by World Society for the Protection of Animals, 89 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TP.
