Blunkett's record in Sheffield

LAST week's report on the inspection of Sheffield's education service failed to make clear that David Blunkett, the Education and Employment Secretary, was not leader of the council when the ity ran up huge debts as a result of hosting the World Student games.

In 1991 the leader of Sheffield City Council was Clive Betts, now Labour's education whip in the Commons.
