Bodyguard for bullied girl

18th February 2000 at 00:00
A 13-YEAR-OLD girl has been given access to a "bodyguard" at Glaisdale comprehensive in Bilborough, Nottingham, after suffering at the hands of bullies for more than a year.

A teacher will be available to Amie Salmon throughout lessons, during lunch and even when she goes to the tolet. Her alleged tormentors - a gang of up to eight girls - have not been excluded.

Headteacher Tim Moralee said: "(Exclusion) may show the school is serious about tackling bullies, but it is not corrective. Every child has a right to be in school and have an education."
