Fed up with phonics? Numbed by numbers? You must need a holiday. But the Diary wants you to pause and think of the Greater Good.

The National Foundation for Educational Research needs to recruit between 800 and 1,200 teachers and other education professionals by September to take part in research about the national primary and secondary strategies.

Nothing too onerous: e-surveys twice a year and short phone interviews in some cases.

So if you are involved in the strategies and want to have your say, email the project administrator at with contact details.

Then pack your suntan cream and floppy hat wearing the rosy glow of virtue.
