Box of delights

This week's winner of a Duchy Originals organic hamper from Waitrose is Nigel Tattersfield, head of English at Prior Park college in Bath. He pulled off an amazing feat in the week of World Book Day with a community reading aloud of The Lord of the Rings. It was a 48-hour marathon, with continuous reading from 9am until 6pm each day, finishing at noon on the Saturday. Pupils, teachers, parents and a "wonderful librarian" all took turns at reading aloud from the book which had just been voted the nation's favourite novel. The school, a Catholic independent for 11-18s, set out to raise awareness of literacy, and funds for the children's charity Readathon. Mr Tattershall wants to express "huge gratitude" to everyone involved and for being allowed to "turn the school upside down for the week". The hamper is, he says, the "perfect way" to say thank you.

It contains a refreshing lemon drink, home-made jams and lemon curd, mouth-watering chocolates and crunchy biscuits. It usually costs pound;46 and is available exclusively from Waitrose Direct Gifts, at www.waitrose.

com, which delivers to any mainland UK address. For a chance to win one, just tell us why you and your colleagues deserve it. Send your message, marked Waitrose offer, by email or postcard to the address on the right.
