Boyd's babes add up

30th September 2005 at 01:00
We have learned of an epic contest on the five-a-side field between a team from HMIE and one from the education faculty at Strathclyde university.

The Jordanhill team, led by the erstwhile scourge of the inspectorate, Brian Boyd, emerged victorious after a hard-fought but clean game at the Glasgow Green outdoor arena.

The fact that Boyd's Babes had six players (though we are assured that only five were playing at any one time) and that HMIE could muster only four (plus a "ringer" supplied by inspector Hakim Din) may have had some influence on the final result.

We are informed that a return match is scheduled for early October. Watch this space.
