Boys kept away from girls

Sandbach high school's wish to enrol boys into its all-girls sixth-form has been put on ice. Cheshire's admissions forum has recommended that boys should not be allowed to enrol in September 2006. Peter Wiles, head of neighbouring Sandbach school, a boys' independent, wants the two sixth forms to collaborate: "At last common sense is prevailing."
