Brunel adventure

9th December 2005 at 00:00
From January 5 for 80 days

In the run-up to Brunel 200, a year-long programme celebrating the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Bristol's Great Reading Adventure has been extended. Everyone in the South-west region is being encouraged to read Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days, which demonstrated how transport and technology built by engineers such as Brunel had opened up the world. More than 40,000 copies will be distributed free alongside more than 50,000 copies of a specially commissioned and illustrated children's version featuring Wallace and Gromit.

www.swreads.com will be launched in January.
