A long-awaited report on the future of sport in Australia has called for PE to be included in the national curriculum and for more to be done to prepare staff to teach sport. "In reality, participation in sport and physical activity is usually left to the discretion of individual schools and teachers to implement," the review says. Teacher-training courses have neglected physical education, creating a shortage of teachers with expertise in the subject, it says.
