Buckets of help

24th February 2006 at 00:00
One-sixth of the world's population lives far from clean water, and those who make the journey to fetch it are usually women and children. To support fund-raising on World Water Day (March 22), teachers could use Buckets of Pennies for Buckets of Water. These six-page packs are available for pupils of all ages. Children in nurseries can sing a song and discuss the differences between clean and dirty. Those in primaries can make a presentation about hygiene, while secondary pupils can explore how charitable giving can lead to effective sanitation.
