Using computers in mathematics

This advanced course for key stage 2 teachers is organised by BEAM Education at the Barnsbury Centre, Islington, London N1. It will explore how whole-class lessons can be enhanced using one computer, an interactive whiteboard and a range of software, including spreadsheets, to encourage problem-solving and investigation. Museums and Galleries Month

Throughout May

This year's theme is "Travel and the art of travelling". Major anniversaries being celebrated in UK museums and galleries include the 200th anniversary of the first steam engine at the National Railway Museum, York. Museums and Galleries Month is organised by the Campaign for Museums, with support from engage (National Association for Gallery Education) and other organisations.

Marvellous '04

This outdoor music festival will be held at Wellington Country Park, near Reading, Berkshire. The line-up includes Bjorn Again and the Elgar Chamber Orchestra, accompanied by a firework finale. Schools can raise money through a ticket discount and cash-back scheme on bookings.

Junior tennis challenge

Young tennis players are invited to participate in a UK junior doubles challenge and raise funds for Save the Children.

Closing date for entries: June 30. Qualifying events will be held during July and August, regional heats in September and finals in October 16.

Every pound;50 that participants raise will entitle them to be entered in a draw to win a holiday for a family of four at Mark Warner's San Agostino Beach Resort in Greece.
