Cartoon unjust to builders

24th March 2000 at 00:00
I WAS surprised and dismayed by the "NBFE" cartoon (FE Focus, March 10). Hart and Jones implied that people such as myself are uncouth, stupid, ignorant, unreliable and bigoted, with little dress sense.

I realise that I may now be labelled humourless, but I can't imagine any other group of lecturers being treated with such scorn. Perhps you thought us such an illiterate bunch that none of us would read The TES. Please be kind to us, we are sensitive and caring, and, by and large, doing a good job in difficult circumstances.
