Cats purr in character

25th September 1998 at 01:00
The Cats of Cuckoo Square mini-series (Young Corgi Pounds 3.50 each) is ideal for readers developing independence. Four titles, four cats, with each book told from a different cat's viewpoint. The current fad for commissioning books in batches of four or six can produce sloppy work from the best of writers, but author Ad le Geras should be coaxed into writing more of these. Her cats' voices are convincing and witty.
